Gas hydrates are formed in the technical systems of gas production:

The change in the temperature and pressure of the gaseous surrounding causes the formation of technical hydrants that violates the processes of production, transportation and processing of gas. Even in the southern climate zone drilling fields can not avoid the problem of hydrate formation due to large fluctuations in daily temperature, but the frequency of formation of hydrates in the South less than in the North.

To control the formation of hydrates there are several ways, but the most effective of them is the introduction of a hydration inhibitor – methanol.

90 % of gas in Russia has a Northern origin since it is extracted in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district, in the district of the far North. During its production as the hydration inhibitor methanol is used only.

In the design and development of new fields (Nadym, Yamal) in the technology of production and processing methanol use is included as a hydration inhibitor.

The usage of methanol, like any chemical substance has the complexity and the main one – high toxicity (effects on the human body by inhalation and in contact with the skin and in the human body.
