Dosing on offshore drilling platforms

 

Россия Russia occupies 1 place on the extent of maritime boundaries and continental shelf.  More than 25% of the oil reserves of the country and more than 50 % of proven gas reserves are contained on the shelf.  49 % of proven reserves on the Russian shelf are located in the Barents sea, and only 1% on the shelf Kasikova sea. 

Despite the fact that the shelf is explored by only 7 %, we can already say that it keeps the rich oil-bearing structure that one day would be  oil and gas fields.

Most of the sea shelf of Russia is covered with ice most of the year.  Extraction of already proven reserves of oil on the shelf is difficult because of the high cost. Returns on investment of exploration, development and launch of wells  would take more than 13 years.  On fully explored  land territories  of country it is cheaper and easier to extract oil and gas.

In Russia  oil is extracted on the shelf of the Okhotsk sea and in the Baltic sea.  Work is underway to  the development of the available and proven offshore fields - Prirazlomnoye (offshore of Pechersk  sea).  It stocks — 74 million tons of recoverable oil and 8.6 billion m3 of gas.

PTF «Areopag» blocks of storage and pumping of chemical were made, as well as block of storage and pumping of methanol, intended for dosed periodic supply of methanol at the well head and for a constant supply into the reservoir of the gas lift up to pressure reduction system to eliminate hydrate formation.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS)

 

Classification society of Russian maritime register of shipping was established on 31 December 1913. Since 1969 RS has been a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).

 

Main objectives:

  • raising the standards of safety of life at sea
  • raising standards in safe navigation of ships
  • raising standards in the safe carriage of goods by sea and inland waterways
  • development of measures and standards for prevention of environment pollution.

 

RMRS provides services like:

  1. Consideration of technical documentation, implementation of technical supervision and the issuance of documents, certificates and instruments on ships and floating facilities, as well as ship machinery, equipment, devices, products, supplies and materials, cold storage, lifting devices, containers.
  2. Tonnage measurement of ships and floating structures.
  3. Implementation of technical supervision over the implementation of provisions of international conventions and extradition of relevant documents on behalf of the maritime administrations of the countries - parties of convention.
  4. Certification of industrial products and productions.
  5. Certification of quality management systems, environmental management and management in the field of occupational health and safety for compliance with the requirements of international standards ISO series 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
  6. Inspection of safety management systems of shipping companies and ships for compliance with International management code for the safe operation of ships and for pollution prevention.
  7. Data analysis and providing the necessary information to shipowners, maritime administrations, underwriters and port authorities in case of changing the ship class.
  8. Cooperation with maritime administrations and port authorities during the port control of ships.

In case of carrying out technical supervision of the units by the Register:

  1. Consideration of technical documentation (in volume: the technological process description, equipment description, technical specifications, general arrangement drawings, necessary calculations of strength, technical conditions and specifications, test program, quality control plan, operation manual and maintenance, risk analysis and measures to ensure safe operation).
  2. Confirmation of compliance of equipment with the requirements of RMSR Rules (before fabrication), by extradition of technical advice and stamped by the main offices of the Register of the technical documentation of the plant.
  3. Examination of equipment (through participation of RMSR inspector in conducting the in-plant acceptance tests, in accordance with the previously agreed programme of testing).

Requirements for maritime facilities

 

1.  

The pumps which are used for pumping flammable and combustible liquids shall be provided with means of infringements warning of the parameters that affect the security and leaks. The critic values of safe operation parameters must be established by technological regulations and by operating instructions of the equipment.

 

The implementation in block storage and pumping of methanol/chemicals

  • Alarm system of the pump unit membrane damage.
  • Control and alarm system of emergency and pre-emergency statuses of the minimum and maximum values of the pressure at the injection pump.
  • Local and remote alarm systems of vessel reagent maximum level.
  • Filter clogging control.
  • Control of the minimum acceptable reagent consumption.
  • Automatic shutdown and close of electric armature on the inlet and outlet of the pump and the start of reserve line.

 


 

2.  

If device of external heat insulation of process vessels and pipelines needed then it is necessary to provide protection against the ingress of combustible products. The temperature of the outer surfaces of the equipment and (or) covers of the insulating coatings must not exceed over 80% of the auto-ignition temperature of most flammable, explosive product, and in places available for staff, must not be more than 45 °C indoor and 60 °C on the outdoor installations. The thermal insulation shall be made of non-combustible materials.

  • The installation of covering material of thermal insulation is made of stainless steel sheets.
  • The use of low temperature heating cables, which working temperature does not exceed 80% of the auto-ignition temperature of methanol.
  • The temperature of the outer surfaces of the equipment does not exceed 60 °С.
  • Thermal insulation of a category of combustibility «NF» – non-flammable..
